Nathan Mitchell serves the firm as an Associate Attorney. His primary focus is probate and estate planning. He is a graduate of the University of Mississippi and obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law. Nathan is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and the Louisville Bar Association. Additionally, Nathan actively serves as a Captain in the United States Army Reserve.

Prior to joining Stone Legal Group, PLLC, he served as a Prosecutor for the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office where he gained valuable courtroom experience.  While obtaining his Juris Doctorate from the University of Louisville, he worked as a Deputy Clerk for the Jefferson Circuit Court Clerk in the Probate Division. He also spent time clerking for Judge Amos Mazzant, Magistrate Judge in his native state of Texas. While obtaining his undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi, he spent one summer as a legislative intern for the United States House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology in Washington D.C. Lastly, Nathan was commissioned as an Officer in the United States Army in 2010, where he has served both in the Mississippi National Guard and Army Reserves.

Why do I practice in Probate and Estate Planning?

I never intended to specialize in Probate and Estate Planning. While attending law school, I worked as a Deputy Clerk for the Jefferson Circuit Court Clerk in the Probate Division. It was there that I realized this is the area of law I wanted to spend my career practicing. I saw firsthand the impacts that arise when people do not have a proper estate plan established prior to their death. As a member of the younger generation, I want to change the narrative that estate planning is only for when you get old. I want people to know that you are never too young to establish your legacy through your estate plan.
